Borge Mogensen Armchair 3238 “Hunting Chair” for Fredericia

About the Item

Borge Mogensen began his career as a cabinetmaker, then studied furniture design at the school of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen until 1938, under the direction of Kaare Klint, where he later became his assistant between 1938 and 1941. Mogesen`s works were very successful and were exhibited in Zurich, N.Y., Paris, London, etc. He received numerous awards, including the Eckersberf Medal in 1950. Mogensen is one of the great masters of the Danish modernist movement. Borge designed furniture with a stripped-down aesthetic, using mainly wood, canning and leather, and made pieces that he tested himself, aided by his children, by trampling them. Creation of the 3238 series of chairs also known as the Hunting Chairs was started in the 1950s and was produced by Fredericia Furniture. Made of Oak and leather, the oak frames have original saddle leather and seats with brass buckles. In fairly good condition with beautiful patina on the leather. We recommend shipping through 1stdibs and their couriers for they have affordable rates due to the large volumes they handle.
