Brazilian Modern Armchairs in Hardwood & Brown Fabric, Jorge Zalszupin, c. 1950s

About the Item

Available today in NYC with free domestic shipping included, these Pair of Armchairs in Hardwood and Brown Fabric, by Jorge Zalszupin made in the fifties in Brazil are nothing less than spectacular! These delicate armchairs are made in Brazilian Rosewood, known as Jacaranda, and reupholstered in a gray fabric. The woodwork is spectacular and can be seen throughout the piece but mostly in the arms and legs. The old Jacaranda has colorful veins showcasing the age of the piece as well as levity in its design. The wood was refinished and besides the marks of age (which are minimal) the set is in excellent condition. The set is showcased in our gallery next to Sergio Rodrigues "Cintia" bench and the convo looks nothing less than spectacular! Jorge Zalszupin was a Brazilian architect and furniture designer who was born in Poland in 1922. He moved to Brazil in the 1950s and quickly became known for his innovative furniture designs that blended elements of European modernism with Brazilian warmth and tropical materials. Finally, Zalszupin's influence on the Brazilian design community has helped to shape a unique design aesthetic that continues to inspire designers around the world. Zalszupin's work was characterized by clean lines, bold shapes, and a playful use of color, and he created many iconic pieces of furniture that are still popular today. In addition, his furniture is known for its high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, which results in pieces that are both beautiful and durable. Zalszupin's furniture continues to be highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts around the world, and his influence can be seen in the work of many contemporary designers who continue to draw inspiration from his innovative and playful approach to modern design. Zalszupin passed away in 2020 at the age of 98.
