About the Item

Confidential Armchairs designed by Alberto rosselli for Saporiti Italia, 1970s, polyurethane foam, black cowhide metallic effect. The Confidential is one of the most important products of the Saporiti Italia history. Designed by Alberto Rosselli in 1972, it is one of the first modular systems ever made, engineered to be entirely produced by polyurethane injected foam. Metal frame in steel. Upholstered seats in fabric or leather. Architect and designer, adopted from Milan, is the son-in-law of Gio Ponti. A silent but fundamental figure in the panorama of 20th century Italian design, Alberto Rosselli has deeply marked the design culture of the post-war period. Theoretical and educational, is among the promoters-founders of ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Together with Marco Zanuso he designed the three-dimensional Compasso d'Oro (designed by A. Steiner): the current symbol of recognition. Among the first to talk about industrial design, seriality and organization. His idea: to promote the transition from art furniture to industrial furniture. Another commitment? Rigorous method criteria applied to the teaching approach: a breakthrough in university teaching. Director of the magazine Stile Industria since its foundation in 1954, he was a judge in the first three editions of the Compasso d'Oro Award. Some of his achievements: the expansion of the Corriere della Sera headquarters in via Solferino (between 1960 and 1965) and the exhibition space at the Fiera Di Milano. In the field of design, to name a few: the 1960 Ninfea Chair by Regutti Mobili, the bar table for Kartell of 1967, the Confidential armchair for Saporiti of 1968.
