About the Item

Ceremonial chair high back walnut, linden and ebony carved with the lower part and locker. The armrests fluted windings. The file has two framed panels and carved pilasters topped with capitals and cornices. Arabesque décor, chimeras, animals, devils, seraphim, horses, helmets, armor .... The upper central panel is carved with a scene depicting a man being eaten by birds, this is God's punishment for fishermen. To make the scene even more important sculptor used the ebony color which contrasts with the rest of the record. Perfect condition, original hinges and cornices. High. 225cm, width. 95cm, Prof. 48 cm. The Loire Valley , François 1st period circa 1520. Function: This type of throne was used by the person holding the civil or religious authority (often the same person) to teach or justice. Only high officials had chairs also called "cathèdres" when they were for a bishop.
