Guillerme et Chambron, Oak Armchair with Lamp and Desk, France, Mid-Century
Located in New York, NY
Robert Guillerme studied design and architecture at the École Boule, graduating in 1934. After the Second World War he moved to Lille, in the north of France, where he decorated homes and designed furniture for the well regarded Rogier workshops. In 1948 Jacques Chambron left his work as a painter and decorator on the Rue Nollet in Paris, and relocated his family to join Guillerme. The two had met in 1940 while imprisoned by the Germans in East Prussia and bonded over, among other more obvious things, their shared passion for design. In 1949 the pair discovered Émile Dariosecq, a master cabinet maker who had a shop in the city, and who was willing to produce their designs. The three started Votre Maison. The association was destined to be as influential as prolific. Not only did Votre Maison produce over two thousand models during the later half of the twentieth century, it also left an indelible stamp on design of the 50s, 60s and 70s. The company’s output served as a model for a vast field of livable contemporaneous design. The soul of Guillerme et Chambron’s work was in the company’s name (“Your House"). Their focus was as keenly attuned to functionality—furniture’s use in daily life—as to the creation of innovative design. For the pair of designers the home was envisioned as a place where the family could live both comfortably and in aesthetic harmony. Robert Guillerme, who designed most of the work, possessed a limitless creative ambition, producing designs for everything from grand dressers and sideboards to the smallest elements of a space, such as pedestals, shelving, benches, and lighting. This steady output of beautiful furniture bucked convention not merely in the equal emphasis Guillerme placed on function and aesthetics, but in the almost paradoxical creation...

Mid-Century Danish Niels Moller Model 56 Oak Armchair for JL Mollers Mobelfabrik
Located in Shepperton, Surrey
A very handsome and finely crafted chair designed in the early 50’s by Niels Moller. This design is quite hard to come by, especially so offered in Oak as the majority were produced in Teak. The timber on this chair exhibits a wonderful honey glow and is in excellent condition. Just reupholstered using the finest black leather sympathetic to the original leather used. Also particular attention had been paid to keeping the seat padding nice and slim, as it should be, there is nothing worse than seeing these chairs incorrectly upholstered with overstuffed seats that detract from the clean lines. This chair would make a fantastic desk chair but could also be placed in other rooms around the house as a statement side chair...

Armchair Wing Swivel Lounge G-Plan 6250R Brown Draylon 1962 James Bond Blofeld
Located in BUNGAY, SUFFOLK
• Model 6250R most comfortable chair is named after the year in which it was designed 1962 by G Plan. It was marketed as "The World's Most Comfortable Chair". • It is an iconic design, recognised as one of the great modern pieces of furniture • Possibly one of the most famous chairs ever to be captured on celluloid, the 6250 was supervillain Blofeld’s chair in the Bond movie You Only Live Twice (1967), Blofeld uses the chair in the control center of his Volcano lair in Japan. Similar or the same model chairs can also be seen in Goldfinger (1963) in Goldfinger's private jet that brings James Bond (Sean Connery) and Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) to the United States. A 6250 chair can also be seen in the Beatles film Help! (1965), where it's part of the furniture in the Beatles house. At some point in the film, John Lennon sits in the chair playing a guitar. • Its distinctive big wings and soft foam cushioning with deeply buttoned back provide the ultimate in comfort. For added luxury it rocks, glides and swivels too. • This striking vintage armchair, order 0481174 30, is in exceptional original condition, retaining its original Vandyck draylon brown upholstery, G-Plan label, star design oak base and castors. The chair used in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE was auctioned at Julien's on December 5th 2014, selling for $16,250. The auctioned chair...
