About the Item
Lovely vintage mid-century modern khaki vinyl faux leather accent or side armchair in the style of Kroehler. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The wood legs and supports have been refinished and the vinyl is usable. However, even though it has been scrubbed well it retains some staining or fading and it has a couple nicks and dings to it so you may want to recover. It’s priced as such. It has a petite frame, wide seat with coil springs and a leaned back angle, fabulous round tapered walnut legs with an outward flare, and it is wearing a lovely khaki faux leather or vinyl featuring cording or piping on the arms and across the front of the chair and nail head detail beside the wood connector under the arms. An interesting detail about this side chair is that it is comprised of two pieces; the seat and back which are linked together by a wood bracket under the arms which raises the back a bit giving it a floating appearance. It’s wonderful!! This is just the chair you need in the corner of your bedroom, as a conversation chair in the study, or at the entry for a quick, comfortable spot to take off your shoes. It will blend in beautifully with many décor styles and it screams mid-century modern magnificence! You know you love this fabulous khaki faux leather side chair! Then what are you waiting for? Hibriten actually had 2 companies- Hibriten Furniture Co, and Hibriten Chair Co. Both located in Lenoir, N. C. Hibriten Furniture was founded in the 1920’s by Orrin Robbins and Hibriten Chair Co. was founded a few years later by Robey Robbins. Hibriten Chair Co. was well known for its extremely high quality of solid mahogany or walnut French reproductions and other styles of furniture. Hibriten became a part of Bernhardt Furniture in the 1950-1960’s with their president George C. Robbins and was eventually purchased by Bernhardt sometime in the early 1970’s.
