Mid 19th Century French Louis XVI Style Painted Armchairs or Bergeres
About the Item
This pair of mid nineteenth Century Louis XVI style painted armchairs, features a seat back "en chapeau" detailed with central scrolling acanthus leaves and finials at the corners. Its delicate hand carvings include motifs of a vitruvian scroll pattern around the frame, acanthus leaves and an overlapping quatrefoil pattern on the armrests. The tapered, cabled fluted legs are detailed with rosettes on the die joints. Covered in white muslin, these armchairs are ready to be upholstered. circa 1860.
