Pair of Late 19th Century French Louis XIII Style Hand Carved Oak Armchairs

About the Item

This pair of late nineteenth century French Louis XIII style armchairs features hand carved Renaissance female figures that support the hand turned barley twist armrests. The seats rest on classic barley twist legs at the front that join the squared back legs with a barley twist H stretcher. The back legs extend all the way up to form their gently inclined squared seat backs. Upholstered in purple velvet and finished with nail head trim, this pair will lend an old world feel to any interior or can be juxtaposed in a contemporary setting. c. 1880.
