About the Item

Nanna Ditzel armchair Model 83 by Mobelfabric Soren Willadsen Denmark. Beech wood Born in 1923 in Copenhagen, the modern designer Nanna Ditzel, née Hauberg, began her studies in cabinet making at the Richards School, then at the School of Arts and Crafts, and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. In 1946, she obtained her diploma in furniture design. In 1943, during her studies, she met Jorgen Ditzel, who would become her first husband. In 1944, they started working and exhibiting together and founded their design studio in Copenhagen in 1946. In this studio, they created mainly interiors and children's furniture, multi-functional and adjustable. The iconic Hanging Chair (1959), renamed "Egg Chair", is probably their most famous creation, with its wicker seat hanging from the ceiling with chains. The Scandinavian Furniture Fair dubbed her the "First Lady of Danish Furniture Design", and her work has been exhibited worldwide. Her awards include the Danish Ministry of Culture in 1998 and the Royal Society of Arts in London in 1996 as an Honorable Royal Designer. His clients include Georg Jensen, Kvadrat, Kvist, Fredericia Furniture, and many others.
