Pair Antique Italian Baroque giltwood armchairs with Damascene Silk are a gorgeous example of the style rendered only as the Italian master artisans can perform! The elaborate contours of the framework contain not a single straight line, with artistic carved detail depicting stylized shell, floral and foliate motifs on the highly stylized framework in its entirety. The complex framework of the seat backs and seats are enhanced by the luxurious silk damascene fabric which remains in very good condition, beautifully complementing the patinaed gold finish on the sculpted wooden framework. Such examples were meant to be displayed for all to appreciate and envy, holding a place of prominence in the room. Needless to say possessing such furnishings was a symbol of wealth and power, while simultaneously expressing the artistic genius of the Baroque masters whose work has been emulated and revered for centuries!
