Pair of 19th C. Barley Twist Armchairs

$2,800

About

Pair of 19th C. Barley Twist armchairs Pair of 19th C. Barley Twist armchairs with cane back and leather seats. When looking at this pair of armchairs first notice the quality of the turnings but also notice the choice of wood features. The decision of choosing the wood and showing the grain equal the quality of the craftsmanship involved in making these chairs. A precise scroll crest centered with a detailed laurel wreath then flipped to the lower portion...Superb! This is followed throughout the back which surrounds the cane. Shaped arms ending with acanthus leaf carvings. Stretcher on the sides for maximum support but braced along the front with twist turn (not easy to do). Twist to the front legs, arm supports, and back support. Nice drop-in leather seats for immediate use or easily recovered. Not much to look at unless you look closely and see the beauty and true craftmanship in this pair of chairs. These are very sturdy.
