Pair of 19th century bamboo canework Chinese chairs

About the Item

Pair of Chinese export cane work chairs circa 1890. Good elegant examples of this Chinese craft. Made from thin cane which has been multi layered for reinforcement. Shaped back with further cane work detailing in the back rest.  Plain flat seat which would benefit from a shallow cushion.  Standing on cane legs with bound stretcher supports. Minor losses to cane and lacquer work. Seat height: 20" Seat width: 19 1/3" Seat depth: 15"
