Pair of English Regency Curule Chairs with Swan Motifs and Upholstered Seats

About the Item

A pair of English period Regency steel and brass curule armchairs with swan motifs from the early 19th century. This pair of curule Regency chairs circa 1820 features an X-shape steel frame with four swans decorating the arms in a graceful downward movement. The X-frame reveals the neoclassical taste of the Regency period, showing a direct influence of ancient Rome where the curule chairs were first seen. The crescent-shaped legs are raised on four brass ball-and-claw feet, their golden tone contrasting nicely with the darker finish of the steel. The overall effect is one of grace, perfectly combined with subtle strength. With their classical inspiration, elegant motifs, curves and robustness due to the presence of steel, this pair of spectacular English Regency armchairs would be a great accent in any living room or office, paired with traditional or modern decor.
