Picture, acrylic on canvas Silvino Lopeztovar Born in Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico in 1970, Silvino Lopeztovar finished his professional design studies at the Universidad Nuevo Mundo in 1994. After his bachelor’s degree, he received a diploma in automotive design from the Rigoletti house of design, where he met Maurizio Corbi (senior designer at Pininfarina), obtaining a recognition for being one of the top three automotive designers in a project for a French car by Zini. Among the teachers who have influenced his work during his academic stage, Javier Castelltort Javier and Alejandro Ramirez deserve special mention. Silvino Lopeztovar began his career working for advertising agencies. He was initially involved with the design of sets and scenarios, some of them for the television, and carried out his activities in Spain, Italy, Panama and Mexico City. In 1996, he founded Silvino Lopeztovar Design, a company focused mainly to interiors. Among his customers Stand Nestle, FedEx, Novartis, Canon, Pozos International Festival of Independent Cinema, Channel 22 TV (Mexico), Ingram Micro and urban design for the David Ben Gurión Cultural Park, developed by the State Government of Hidalgo and planned by the famous artist Byron Gálvez. Jorge Reyes, a Mexican musician, also engaged him to design costumes for his performances. His works have been exhibited in Mexico City at the Art Forum Gallery, the International Motor Show, the National Museum of San Carlos, the Franz Mayer Museum, the Museum of the Chancellery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Anáhuac University. Internationally, he participated in the Milan Triennial, the Design Forum in Helsinki and has exhibited his work at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, the Museum of the University of Antwerp in Belgium, the University Museum of Seoul, Korea, the Museo Ettore Sottsass of Ravenna, the Museum of Mobile in Monza, the Museum of contemporary Art in Panama, the Ivonne Palix Amor Gallery, the Universal Exposition in Hanover, the Biennale of Design of Saint Etienne, in France, and the Matadero in Madrid, Spain. He was selected to represent Mexico at the II, III and IV Latin American Biennial of Design in Madrid and attended the 7th National Biennial of Design of Bellas Artes, where he was awarded by INBA (Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes). He also received an honorable mention at the Quorum Award (2013) and a silver mention at the! Design Award. Silvino Lopeztovar has given lectures and seminars at the School of Architecture of Madrid (2010), the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria of Madrid (2010) and the Anáhuac University in Mexico City, among others.
