6 Rare museum Conran C20 Havana dining chairs "JFK" The Chair Wegner Cowhorn

About the Item

Wonderful original c20 chair by Terence Conran and Conran Design Group c.1960 - fabulous patina throughout constructed from a tubular steel frame with original self-levelling feet and black finish with the cow-horn style solid beech steam bent seat-back with period leather that has mellowed to a salmon pink colour. A rarely seen piece by one of the great icons of design. Perfect as a very stylish desk chair, simply gorgeous. Measures: 53cm width x51cm depth x 72cm height / Seat measures 45cm width x 40cm depth / Height to seat 47cm.

They symbolize a time of peace and leisure, whilst 'theoretically' lightening the load of household work. They also represent a blurring between the indoors and the outside, at a time when the everyday living space was being extended to balconies and gardens. He was to produce over 20 drinks trolley permutations. After the war Mategot took part in a major revival of the decorative arts, which had become reliant on the elegant but expensive materials inherited from Art Deco. The war had forced all cultural assumptions to be re-examined while also dramatically interrupting traditional supply channels. The necessities of reconstruction and limited budgets thus called on all creators...
