Reclining Art Deco Armchair, by Jindřich Halabala, UP Závody, Czech, 1920s

About the Item

Designed by Jindrich Halabala, a renowned designer credited with ushering in the mass market production of furniture in his native Czechoslovakia. Made by UP Zavody, a well-known Czechoslovakian furniture manufacturer and dealer based in Brno. This item features classic Art Deco elements. Art Deco is a style that originated in France in the early 20th century. Its furniture designs are meticulously crafted, usually using exotic woods. Pieces are typically lacquered to give off a dazzling gloss. These eloquently crafted pieces will add visual performance and posh to any interior. This chair from the workshop of architect Jindřich Halabala is the pinnacle of reclining chairs produced by the UP závody. The special patented positioning system is designed in such a way that not only the backrest but also the seat is positioned. This chair was made to order as evidenced by the luxurious finish with macassar veneer. Revived original polish. New professional upholstery in Backhausen fabric according to the design of Josef Hoffmann.
