About the Item
20th c., Regency style armchair, with gilt folate design, medallions and caned seat. The arms terminate in a gold tone folate and carved detail. There is a nice button tufted loose seat cushion. The sabre legs support a caned seat with richly decorated front and sides. The chair is unmarked.
This is a handsome and comfortable armchair. Great for a hall, office or stylish dressing room.

Regency Furniture.
During the Regency period it was fashionable to copy the classical furniture of the Roman and Greek times. Furniture had stopped evolving in design and had moved back to classical forms. The Pioneer designers who represented this period were:

George IV had a major influence over the furniture makers of the time.
