About the Item

This iconic armchair, designed by Brazilian visionary Ricardo Fasanello, is a true masterpiece from the late 1960s. Constructed with fiberglass and polyester resin and upholstered in leather, it features a swivel base that adds both functionality and flair to any room. The distinctive form and generous volume of the "Gaivota" armchair evoke the dynamic spirit of the Space Age, making it an extraordinary statement piece. This rare model was exhibited at the 1975 Design Salon at the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro and comes directly from the Fasanello family. Born in São Paulo in 1930, Fasanello began designing and building boats at just 14, showcasing his early passion for innovative design. Over time, this original vintage piece has acquired slight wear on its fiberglass finish, and the white leather displays minor, age-related stains, which only enhance its authentic character.
