‘Fuseau- Facettes’ armchair in solid amaranth, ‘Monsieur’ model, upholstered with Loro Piana purple cashmere, gondola back, and waist with cut sides, the two front legs tapered and fluted, decorated with a vegetable ivory bead and with vegetable ivory sabots. Reference number 42AR and 152NR in the Ruhlmann Archives. Stamped: ‘Ruhlmann’. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
