Set of 3 Gustaf Axel Berg Attributed Armchairs, Birch and Chartreuse Wool, 1940s

About the Item

This striking set of three armchairs was produced in Sweden in the 1940s. The design is attributed to Gustaf Axel Berg, the head designer of his own company AB G.A. Bergs. The chairs are available as a set of three, also available as a pair or single chair. Please note that the listed prices are for each individual chair. This rare design is distinguished by the sculptural, rounded armrests, gracefully angled upward to create an inviting and striking silhouette. The organic lines of the seat and backrest contribute to the overall form. The chairs are upholstered in a deep chartreuse yellow wool fabric, with the piping details highlighting their unique shape. The chair stands on four slightly tapered, elongated legs crafted from solid birch wood, showcasing its characteristic grain. The chairs are in overall good condition, with a later upholstery. The wooden legs with minor wear consistent with age and use. The wool fabric and piping in good to very good condition with a few signs of wear. Other designers working in the same Scandinavian Modern era include Carl Malmsten, Axel Einar Hjorth, Otto Schulz and Arnold Madsen.
