Shiro Kuramata How High The Moon

About the Item

Shiro Kuramata's ‘How High the Moon’ chair is famously ironic for its use of thin metal mesh to reinterpret the form of a traditionally wide and bulky upholstered armchair. The Japanese architect and designer’s work was hugely influential to his peers both inside and outside of Japan, towards the end of the 1980s he was invited by Ettore Sottsass to become a founding member of the Memphis Group. This chair is a limited edition piece manufactured by the Swiss manufacturer Vitra as part of their art furniture line, Vitra.
