Umber Modern Low Armchair in Walnut Wood with Crafted Arm Detail

About the Item

The Umber chair is a comfortable modern walnut armchair with crafted arm design detail. Designed to sit comfortably in its own space, the Umber chair offers a low, laid-back sitting position for relaxed enjoyment. Perfect as a wooden easy chair for a lounge, living room, office or bedroom. The chair’s distinctive angular profile was inspired by the contrasting angles of The Remarkables mountain range in New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The curved timber seat has hidden stainless steel arm supports for strength. The Umber chair was a Gold Award winner at the New Zealand Best Design Awards. The Judges said, "The Umber chair is an iconic, beautifully proportioned and elegantly constructed piece of timber furniture that has the potential to go on to become a New Zealand design ‘classic’." The judges ‘loved’ the comfort, feel and solidity of the chair. They noted its maturity and timelessness, and thought that it could become a piece of furniture that would be passed down through the generations. They noted that Tréology is creating a range of furniture products that balance a New Zealand furniture tradition with innovation and style ”. Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand. • Organic Modern Sculptural Side Table in Sustainable Ancient Matai Wood
    By Tréology
    Located in Papanui, Christchurch
The Emerge side table is a modern organic form made from ancient matai trees (a native timber of New Zealand) that have fallen naturally into rivers and preserved for hundreds of years under sediment layers before natural water erosion exposes them. We rescue these trees from the river and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of functional art. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, has been carbon dated at over 1500 years old. A sculptural shape made from individual pieces of matai wood formed together to make a patch work grain pattern. The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life. Diameter 13.75” x H 15.75” Diameter 350mm x H 400mm Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand.
