19th century French Hall Bench Settle Renaissance Carved Oak Cherub Black Forest. Direct from France, a beautiful antique French hall bench, large enough for any home or castle! The 5.5 ft. back features a large crown over a carved band of fruits and foliate with center twin horses. Below are dimensional carved females playing musical instruments that flank the large opening of thick, hand turned balusters. Four highly carved back panels have beautiful carved winged cherubs with florals and foliate that is echoed in the lower panel carvings. Large oak arms on turned supports frame the seat bench that lifts to reveal large storage space inside. Solid, heavy, and strong, pegged construction, well built by craftsmen of the period, circa1880. Measurements: 66.5” ht. x 56.25” x 19.5”. Bench seat ht. 18.5”.
