About the Item
Like logs washed up and resting along the shoreline, the soft corners of this pillow-top solid wood bench will be at peace anywhere. With side tables and an upholstered seat for two, this is a useful addition to any modern setting. Whether you see it as an assortment of driftwood blocks, pillows, or marshmallows, the Pillowy Bench provides a gentle place to land.
Made out of solid Canadian white ash with a powder coated steel frame and 100% wool upholstered cushion seat, the Pillowy Bench can be customized to a variety of lengths and fabric colors. Shown in the main image is the 6-foot bench with dark green wool fabric and an upholstered seat length of 36". The subsequent images are a 7-foot bench ($6500) with a pale pink wool fabric and an upholstered seat length of 48". All benches are 24" deep with a 17.5" seat height.
This bench is highly customizable to meet your needs. Cushion upholstery is offered in a variety of fabrics, either COM or a selection of Maharam wool fabrics: Beck or Luce. Please contact Hinterland Design to discuss options.

Hinterland Design is a studio that creates unique work for people to use, enjoy and cherish. Each piece is hand made, to order, designed and produced in our Vancouver, Canada studio. Originally created to pair with our Himes Table, the Himes Bench explores the principals of tension and compression. Each of the six parts that make up this piece fit into one and other and are held together using these forces of strength and stability. This bench features a through tenon connection between its legs and top creating a stunning contrast in grain and a clean design detail. Additionally a subtle angled cut adds interest to and comfort to the bench seat. Customized lengths available.
We work with North American solid hardwoods on a made-to-order fabrication basis. The images and pricing above illustrate our use of flat cut white ash in a variety of stains. Additional offerings in white oak, dark oak, walnut & hard maple are available, with different finish oils & stains at our disposal.
