About the Item

This authentic Afterbench (sometimes known as the Afteroom Bench), originally released in 2016 by Audo Copenhagen (formerly Menu), is a definitive example of modern Danish functionalism. Designed by the acclaimed Afteroom Studio as a subtle homage to the Bauhaus movement, this piece distills seating and utility into its most elemental and beautiful form. The design features an oblong, generously padded seat elevated on a delicate, slender base of powder-coated steel, creating an elegant, airy silhouette. The luxurious upholstery in a rich, supple suede adds a tactile warmth that beautifully contrasts with the industrial materials. What truly distinguishes this design is the clever integration of a small, circular black marble tabletop that extends effortlessly from the side, providing an elegant, robust platform for small objects like a coffee cup or book. With its clean, graphic lines and thoughtful dual-functionality, this bench is a striking, minimalist statement—perfect for an entryway, lounge, or gallery space seeking a touch of understated Scandinavian luxury.
