About the Item

This early twentieth century French painted beech wood Louis XVI style vanity bench or banquette features classic hand carved motifs of rosettes at the die joints and a twisted ribbon pattern along the apron. Acanthus leaves decorate the bottom of its tapered fluted legs. An H stretcher joins the lower die joints and is appointed with a central finial. The seat takes on a unique kidney shape and is finished with caning. An ideal piece for use in a bathroom, bedroom, or dressing room, circa 1920.
