About the Item
This handsome box bench has lots of character with one major unintentional feature. It’s hard to ignore the neat smoothing iron burn on the right hand front of the seat. The scalloped top rail peaks at a crest in the center. With the bottom rail it encloses three “windows”, occupied by stylized ferns made of oak. The integral arms and legs are straighter than most and are also of oak. The wide seat lifts on iron strap hinges to a deep storage well, divided with two partitions into three more or less equal compartments. This bench has a lovely color, hand-polished to a rich honey glow.
