Large Bench with Double X-Form Base. Resting on silvered bronze sabots, joined by a bronze stretcher and centered with a gadrooned medallion. Sabots of model N. Stamped 'Ruhlmann'. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
