Swedish Mid 19th Century Carved Country Bench Seventy Three Inches Long

About the Item

Swedish country long bench with pine carcass and carved maple slats. The fan carving of the wavy slats is an unusual detail for a country bench but one that lifts it from the mundane to the interesting. The seat hinges up to reveal a large storage area.  The front is paneled and is supported by four short tapered feet. The bench is made using mortise, tenon and pegged construction. This substantial mid 19th century bench is 73 inch long, has not been refinished, but has been cleaned and polished. All joints are firm and strong.
