The Three Seat Architectural Bench by Arthur Umanoff for Madison Furniture is a stunning example of mid century modern design. Constructed from laminated oak plywood and newly upholstered in a muted tangerine knit fabric, this piece has been fully restored to its original condition. The architectural base and three armchair seats make it a perfect substitute for a sofa or loveseat. Designed in the 1960s by Arthur Umanoff, this bench is an iconic representation of his industrial and high-end designer style. Arthur Umanoff was known for his use of unconventional materials and his ability to create functional pieces with sculptural forms. He was an important figure in the mid-century modern movement and his work is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of the era. The bentwood oak plywood frame has been professionally sand and refinished using the same techniques and materials implemented by the factory. These veneer repairs can be seen in the detail photos provided. The upholstery, redone in a fabulous vintage-styled heavy weight burnt orange tweed, has been meticulously sewed in the same pattern and scheme as the original and is in showroom condition. The seats and backrests feature new medium density foam for added comfort. This exceptional bench is incredibly comfortable, structurally sound and ready for decades more of use.
