Unique Wrought Iron and Wicker Gossip Bench in the Style of Arthur Umanoff 1950s

About the Item

Very unique wrought iron and wicker Gossip Bench from the 50s. in the very simple yet sophisticated style of Arthur Umanoff (doesn´t have authentication). The design is simple and linear creating different volumes with crossing vertical and horizontal lines. This type of bench became popular from the 1930s through the 1950s and was the result of the widespread ownership of handsets in private homes. A seat was attached to a small table, with a cubby or drawer to stash a phone book. Its functionality did not leave behind a great design that combines the stiffness of metal with the soft roundness of woven wicker. The table has a beautiful acid-stained mirror with golden and grey hues. Every leg has an elegant polished brass ball.
