Italian Painted And Parcel Gilt Marquise Armchair, 19th Century
About the Item
A charming ca. 1850 cream and gilt armchair of generous proportions, on tapered fluted legs, and with upright fluted baluster armrests in the Louis XVI manner. The back is arched with gilded scroll terminals to the crest rail, embellished with a finely carved shell and palm frond motif. Very comfortable. Very good antique condition with moderate wear, small losses to the finish typical for its age, reupholstered in light yellow with polychrome florets Brunschwig et Fils fabric. Paint and gilding skillfully refreshed.
