A pair of very decorative mid-18th century black-japanned and gilt-heightened Chinoiserie chairs. Three pairs are currently available. England, circa 1740–70. Why we like them Decorative yet understated, this design combines a smart Georgian design with elegant chinoiserie detailing in an unexpectedly harmonious way.
