An 18th Century Ebonized Ladderback Writing Chair, New England Circa 1750
About the Item
The ebonized maple frame showing four tiers of arched horizontal splats braced by turned columnar rear stile supports terminating to turned finials. The woven ‘split’ hickory trapezoidal seat sided by a spatulate shaped writing panel on one side, and a scrolled armrest with a drilled grip on the opposing, both raised on turned front stile supports braced by a pair of robust turned stretchers. The rear stile supports braced by a turned bar stretcher, with twin bar stretchers bracing both sides and affixed to the front stile supports.
