About the Item

The ebonized maple frame showing four tiers of arched horizontal splats braced by turned columnar rear stile supports terminating to turned finials. The woven ‘split’ hickory trapezoidal seat sided by a spatulate shaped writing panel on one side, and a scrolled armrest with a drilled grip on the opposing, both raised on turned front stile supports braced by a pair of robust turned stretchers. The rear stile supports braced by a turned bar stretcher, with twin bar stretchers bracing both sides and affixed to the front stile supports. Dimensions, 45” high x 24” wide x 16” deep (seat height, 15")

All six frames featuring swan shaped brass inlaid motifs strikingly silhouetted against ebonized panels within brass moldings, over hand carved lyre-shaped splats replete with brass 'strings'. The frames also featuring brass strung stiles, front seat rails & sabre-leg front supports. All are in exceptionally sound condition due to the classical construction method of using oak as the secondary wood for added strength & durability.
