About the Item

Handcrafted and licensed by Anonima Castelli in Italy, this Alky chair was designed for individual use, but the chairs can also be joined together to create a 2-seater Sofa piece for example. A multifunctional lounge chair, perfectly combining comfort, design, and modularity. The foam is printed directly on a set of elastic bands, to ensure comfort and stability. The chair has aluminum alloy feet, to which the connection elements are linked. A chair with smooth lines, it has a great variety of coverings that make it suitable for the most diverse contexts. Condition: good with inevitable signs of time and use as shown in the photos (perhaps to be re-covered). Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna in 1940. He attended the State Art Institute of Bologna, where he obtained the title of Drawing Teacher. In 1960 he attended the Academy of fine Arts in Bologna. He later taught Interior Design at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in Bologna for seven years. In the same period he worked as an interior designer for twelve years at Anonima Castelli, designing their lines of furniture for the home, office and Community, for which he filed numerous Industrial and mechanical invention patents and ornamental models. Among his best-known projects are PLIA, a folding chair, PLATONE, a folding table, DSC (106-AXIS), a seating system for communities and institutional spaces, SISTEMA 61, a modular system of sofas. Anonima Castelli was founded in 1877 by Ettore Castelli as a cabinet-maker. after a gradual transformation, between the sixties and the eighties the company gives shape to one of the most vital and innovative projects in the world, collaborating with illustrious names of Italian and international design: emilio ambasz, Rodolfo Bonetto, nilo gioacchini, Giancarlo Piretti , Charles Pollock, f.a. Porsche, Richard Sapper, Claudio Bellini, Michele De Lucchi, Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, Gino Gamberini, Enzo Mari and Mario Ruiz. its products soon become iconic and will be chosen to furnish the most important presidential offices of banks and large industries.
