This is an antique button-back salon chair. An English, walnut spoon-back seat, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1840. Beautifully presented with exceptional quality and form Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Walnut frame presents rich a caramel hues and Fine grain interest Benefits from a recent professional reupholstering in the traditional manner Distinctive spoon back with broad top rail, accentuated with carved motif Button-back cushion in distinctive spoon shape with flourishes to the waist Traditionally stuffed seat cushion at a comfortable height of 42cm (16.5'') Attractive upholstery in mid grey with striking monochrome rose pattern Serpentine front rail with bowed form meeting the cabriole legs Knees adorned with bold carved cabochon over a tooled shield with oak leaf pendant Supported at the rear with a pair of splayed block section legs Riding smoothly upon a quartet of brass castors This is a superb antique button-back salon chair, with wonderful modern upholstery over a quality early Victorian walnut frame.
