Custom Set of Eight Spindle Back Chairs, Circa 1920
About the Item
Set of eight ash spindle back chairs from England with woven rush seats, circa 1920. There are two armchairs and six side chairs. The set of chairs are a wonderful form and are made from rich colored ash wood. The backs have ears at the top, and follow down to hand turned spindles in rows which give a lovely view from any side. The seats are made from hand woven rush and are supported on hand turned legs in the front, joined by hand turned stretchers. The back legs are simple in form and are joined to the front legs by simple turned stretchers. The arm chairs measure 22.63 W x 18 D x 42.5, with a seat height of 18.25 inches. The side chairs measure 22 w x 18 d x 42.5 h.
