About the Item

Garriris chair by Javier Mariscal, produced by Akaba in 1987, restored & recovered by the architect and designer Stefano Colli (also collector and curator of @goodgoodstefano). In the 1970s, before designing furniture, Mariscal created a comic called “Los Garriris.” In the 1980s, he began to turn cartoon characters into objects. One of the results is this Garriris Chair that resembles Mickey Mouse with its round ears jutting out from the backrest and its slippered steel feet. An essentialist design of a pop culture icon, it’s made of steel, plywood and quality black leather hide. Javier Mariscal (Valencia – Spain 1950) He is a Spanish artist and designer whose work has spanned a wide range of mediums, ranging from painting and sculpture to interior design and landscaping. He works and lives in Barcelona since 1970 when he studied design at the Elisava School, but he soon left to learn directly in his environment and follow his own creative impulses. His first steps were in underground comics, a task that he soon combined with illustration, sculpture, graphic design and interior design. Stefano Colli (Reggio Emilia – Italy 1966) In 1994 he founded his own architecture and interior design studio. He has developed numerous corporate projects for offices, points of sale, and ephemeral spaces in various countries around the world, such as Spain, Germany, France, Italy, the United States, China, and Panama, among others. Numerous magazines and publications have echoed his projects. He has received the FAD Opinion Award for the BPA Tasting Room project in Andorra in 2002, among other awards.
