About the Item

Mid Century Modern vintage chair or side chair, which was designed by the Austrian Architect Karl Schwanzer (1918-1975) and produced by Thonet Mundus (labeled). This beautiful chair shows a frame from hand-polished maple tree, while the seat and back are upholstered with white faux leather and chromed nails. All measures are approximate. Documented: Karl Schwanzer, Architekt aus Leidenschaft Wien, 1973. Erich Boltenstern und die Baukunst nach, 1945. Ottilinger; Möbeldesign der 50er Jahre. Karl Schwanzer designed many significant buildings and won many awards. He works in the circle of Oswald Haerdtl and was an important representative of post-war architecture 1958: Grand Prix for Architecture of the World Exhibition in Brussels. 1959-1963: Wirtschaftsförderungsinstitut, Vienna. 1970: BMW Carpark in Munich. 1973: BMW Administrations Building in Munich.
