Modernist Mid-Century Modern vintage eight ( 8 ) dining chairs or chairs from maple wood in honey brown color tone by Karl Schwanzer for Thonet 1953 Vienna. A gorgeous set of eight (8) dining chairs in beautiful warm honey brown color and upholstered with high quality textile fabric with black underground and vivid pattern by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn. These stackable chairs are from the Viennese architect and designer Karl Schwanzer, an important representative from the Austrian post war design. The dining chairs are newly upholstered and covered with high quality textile fabric "Under Ekvatorn " by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn and decorated with golden nails. We have chosen the wonderful fabric by Austrian architect Josef Frank to emphasize the great work from these Viennese architects and designers. The textile fabric shows fairytale, playful and colorful pattern design. The paper label from the company Thonet is underneath the chairs, under the upholstery. ( the photo from the paper label is attached ) The wooden frame is carefully cleaned and refinished. Very good condition - ready to live and to enjoy for generations to come Approx. measures: Width 49 cm Depth 48.9 cm Height 84.5 cm Seat height 48 cm Through the stunning warmth from the maple wood the combination with a great shape of these chairs, it could be a wonderful addition to your environment. The very rare set of 8 dining chairs by Austrian architect Karl Schwanzer are perfect for a defined eclectic look and for juxtaposing textures and contrasts colors. Karl Schwanzer ( 1918 - 1975 ) He worked in the circle of Oswald Haerdtl, Roland Rainer and Franz Schuster. Karl Schwanzer designed many significant buildings in Vienna like the Wifi building ( 1959 - 1963 ) or Philips Haus; Worldwide the BMW carpark in Munich and the BMW administration building in Munich, also known as the " BMW Four-cylinder ". 1958 he won Grand Prix for architecture of the World exhibition in Brussel, He created the Austrian pavillon for this exhibition. It was very important and significant for his designs, that his creations are reusable. This genius building was rebuilt in Vienna, Schweizergarten, Belvedere, as museum for the 20th century in the early 1960s. Karl Schwanzer was a designer and architect by passion. The Austrian design Institute for Design was founded by him. Schwanzer pioneered new techniques ind architecture and shapes.
