About the Item
Carlo Scarpa chair lacquered in red and upholstered with Hermès fabric.
About the artist:
Carlo Scarpa (1906, Venice - 1978, Sendai, Japan) was an Italian architect who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1926. His career was constantly influenced by the quest for perfection in architectural details, which enabled him to create true works of architectural filigree.
The greatest contribution of his work is the incorporation of the values of the history of Italian architecture into his contemporary architectural works, as he did in the Castelvecchio in Verona, the Olivetti exhibition shop in Venice and the Verona People's Bank, among others.

- Carlo Scarpa "1934" Dining Chair for Bernini, 1977, set of 6By Bernini, Carlo ScarpaLocated in Lonigo, VenetoCarlo Scarpa "1934" dining chair for Bernini, walnut and reddish brown leather, Italy, 1977, set of six. Initially designed for Scarpa's own Venetian house in 1934, this model came up to production only in 1977. This chair demonstrates his architectural attitude toward furniture design. The sophisticated and right-angled base contrasts with the backrest essentiality, further enriched by its curvaceous shapes. A remarkable detail is an open cut on the back that diverges at the bottom, resulting in an unusual yet genuine form. Although an apparent disharmonic look is created, these details enhance the chair's elegance. We can do custom restoration and special reupholstering.
