Pair of 18th Century Swedish Gustavian Lyre Chairs

About the Item

An unusual pair of intricately hand-carved provincial Swedish Gustavian Lyre chairs. Featuring decorative leaf cut raised backs atop tapered, fluted and elongated leaf cut sides and a demure harp-shaped center piece with leaf cut and reeded detailing. Frame fronts and sides are decorated with leaf cut and above each front leg, the edges meet in elaborate fleurons. The front legs are finished with over-collaring atop elongated leaf cut, fluted and tapered bases. The rear legs are saber shaped. These pieces have been meticulously hand-scraped to their original color and reupholstered in linen.
