About the Item
Pair of George I walnut style side chairs
This pair of fine walnut side chairs in the George I style would have been made circa 1885.
The waisted shape backs with the central splat that curves to the fit the shape of your back.
The top rail has a shaped outline and a finely carved shell to the centre.
The seats are shaped to the sides and then a gentle bow to the front rail that also has a shaped apron.
The bold carved cabriole legs at the front, that end on claw and ball feet, again with a fine shell carving to the knees.
The drop-in seats with needlepoint covers.
The colour and quality of these chairs set them apart from the usual.
