A Pair of Late Baroque Swedish Chairs, Origin: Sweden, Circa 1750-1760

$6,250

About

A pair of late Baroque Swedish chairs, origin: Sweden, circa 1750 -1760, reupholstered in linen sateen fabric from Rogers & Goffigon, the wood stained to resemble walnut. The form of these chairs, including their narrow back splat surmounted by a shell-form chest below a yoke-form scroll, reflect English Baroque and Carolean influences (from the time Charles II and his exiled court spent in Holland), and have a charming simplicity. Measures: Seat height 49.5 cm.
