About the Item

A pair of George II hall chairs in fine mahogany having shaped panel backs, legs and seats with painted scripted insignias to backs and turned roundel dishes to seats and legs. The design is inspired by Italian renaissance sgabello chairs seen by William Kent and others on their European Grand Tours. English, circa 1730.
