RARE BARRELL-BACK WINDSOR FORM SWIVELING DESK CHAIR, 1830-40
About the Item
American, barrell-back, windsor desk chair. A very rare, late federal form, circa 1830-1840. Unlike the few other rotating desk chairs I have seen, this example has an almost entirely wooden, hand-made construction. This is probably pre-1850, and therefore an earlier form. A very sculptural chair, with excellent, dry, crazed varnish surface and midnight brown coloration.
