About the Item

Amazing and Gorgous set of four Goldfinger chairs, made of white fiberglass with chrome-plated steel legs, and a tile-colored upholstered cushion with thick boucle. Its design is inspired by the works of Michel Cadestin (1942–), designer of the furniture for the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1976, the Karaté armchair (1960s), and the work table created in 1978. He studied at the famous Ecole Boulle and also graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Each chair features a cookie in brand-new, dry green upholstery. In both design and materials, they closely follow the principles of Space Age. Their futuristic vision is perfectly captured in this piece of striking curved lines in its white fiberglass structure (a color closely linked to Op Art, a movement also closely associated with Space Age), offering elegant and sophisticated furniture that adds a contemporary and modern touch to any space. Space Age It follows the aesthetic canons of the Space Age style, a style that has made a strong comeback and is part of current trends in interior design and decoration. The "Space Age" emerged between the late 1950s and early 1970s. It is based on the idea of an optimistic world following the success of atomic energy and space travel. This style draws its aesthetic inspiration from the American space race and everything related to outer space, such as space satellites, helmets, ships, the effect of weightlessness, and an optimistic proposal for a new futuristic lifestyle. The sphere is adopted as the main morphological reference, as seen in the design of this piece, referencing satellites or space helmets. Aerospace engineers influenced design and architecture through the adaptability of the materials they created for flight. This aesthetic influenced all fields of design: architecture, industrial products, interiors, clothing, graphics, textiles, etc., and also major designers. Pair of Pink «Ghost» chairs, J.C. de Castelbajac for Acrila, Acrylic glass
By Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
Located in Valladolid, ES
Gorgeous Pair of «Ghost» chairs, J.C. de Castelbajac for Acrila, Acrylic glass, after Philippe Starck – France Spectacular pair of high-quality French acrylic glass chairs, inspired by the design of the Louis Ghost model created by Philippe Starck for the Italian manufacturer Kartell in 2002. Many designers have been inspired by Starck's original design to create different pieces of furniture, furniture where shape, image, transparency and light are combined. Specifically, this pair is attributed to the French designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac, for Acrila. They represent the perfect combination of tradition and modernity, as the model is actually an avant-garde stylization of Louis XVI style chairs in an absolutely modern material. Originally, Louis XVI chairs, a symbol of elegance, were made of wood, with upholstered back and seat. In this case, acrylic glass offers an ethereal and crystalline appearance, creating the piece in a single block, without the need for screws or adhesives. Taking advantage of the transparency of the material, the structure of Louis XVI chairs is imitated, both the back, the seat and the four legs, all in white, and the “upholstered” in pink. About Acrila Acrila is a French design company based in Bordeaux, founded in 2007 by the married couple Jean-Christophe Bernard and Isabelle...
