About the Item
The Gaulino Chair is one of the most important designs by Oscar Tusquets. The chair is made integrally from wood and leather and has become an icon of Spanish design. Its name comes from the influences that inspired the designers: Antoni Gaudi and Carlo Mollino.
Solid natural varnished ash with seat in natural hide.
The current chair is a re-edition, of the historic Gaulino chair which, designed in 1987, and was selected in the Adi-Fad Industrial Design Prize of 1989 and in Iberdiseño in 1990. Since then it has always been a part of the retrospective Spanish Design exhibitions and figures in publications, all of which has made it a point of reference in 20th century design in Spain.
The artisanal chair catalysed the creation of numerous sibling chairs. These include the Gaulino Easy (which is lighter and lower than its predecessor), the Gaulinetta (which is a slender, armless interpretation), and the Gaulino Stool (the little one). The BD range also expands from seating to tables. The Gaulino seats accompany the Gaulino selection of wooden dining tables and can sit with the Carlinas range of smoked glass tables.
The classic Gaulino was a luxurious chair with a story. Now, it has a family.
