This set of two DSC 106 chairs was designed by Giancarla Piretti for the Italian Castelli in 1965. After studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Academy of Bologna, he began working as an interior designer for Anonima Castelli, designing furniture for both home and office use. During his twelve years at Castelli, Piretti obtained numerous industrial patents for his designs, which were dominated by chairs.
