Carved Mahogany Claw and Ball Chippendale Corner Chair

About the Item

A beautiful piece of Americana. Featured is a carved Mahogany claw and ball foot corner chair with a floral needlepoint slip seat. Finely carved front middle leg with scrolling acanthus leaf design and ending in a claw and ball foot. The back and side legs are straight block legs. Contoured and shaped crest rail with carved back splats. Dowel joinery. Nice oxidation to corner glue blocks and underside of the chair. Circa Mid-19th Century. Possibly Centennial. Good overall condition and structurally sound and sturdy. There have been some very old minor repairs to splits. Dark old finish and patina. Wear consistent with age and use. Overall cosmetic wear. Approximately 25" deep x 30.5" wide x 31.25" high. Seat height is approximately 18".
